The Great Flip Flop Debate

HELP - I can’t make up my mind.  And I am determined to become your personal boutique – so what better way than to bring this issue directly to the people?

Flip flop season is my favorite time of year – truly, there is no shoe option that I can think of that is more comfortable.  There is no better feeling than that of a gentle breeze whispering across your tootsies, in all their exfoliated, buffed, and polished glory….

I am looking to add a flip flop line to Householder’s already stellar assortment of wonderful items.  And in my resourcing adventures I have seen some of the most innovative trends in flip flop style and technology.  And some darn cute shoes.

So I have narrowed the options down to two lines that I think are equally fabulous.  And I want you to decide what you would like to see in ”your” store.  Check them out, and let me know your thoughts.  You can either email me at  householders@comcast.net or add your comments directly to this post and we can have a good ol’ fashioned debate!

The debate will close April 18, 2008 – Because I need to place an order so that I will have these shoes in time for the start of the season…

In no particular order, here are your candidates:

These shoes are manufactured in Buford, GA from recycled materials – and when you are bored with them you can bring them back to me and I will return them to said manufacturer where they will then recycle them again to make even more cute shoes…and as a thank you for being a friend to the environment, Householder’s will then give you a discount on a new pair!  I have received multiple reports of superior comfort level (as the design is based in reflexology); and they are antimicrobial, and washable!  They are also NON-SLIP ( a must for anyone who has ever slipped out of their flops and felt that twinge, nay, excruciating pain, that accompanies the ensuing ankle injury – which may or may not include swelling and a very colorful bruise…oh, the perils of fashion.  There are a bunch of super cute designs in hot colors, be sure to mention your favorites (I cannot order one of each style).  They are extremely HIGH quality at very reasonable prices.  One particular style would also allow you to interchange a ribbon and change up the whole look of the shoe!

#2 Switchflops – www.switchflops.com

Essentially, you can buy one pair of flip flops, and you can easily turn that one pair into an entire flip flop empire with 58 easily changeable strap options.  For the flip flop obsessed (don’t be ashamed) this is a dream come true!  Dress them up, dress them down – you’ll be stylin’ all around town….

Imagine how much more room you could have in your closet for that funky giraffe print purse you got at Householder’s (I know you have been eyeing it because you are a fashion forward mover and shaker, and you know it is an absolute MUST HAVE for your summertime purse collection – Dooney and Burke’s version is gorgeous, but it is also leather - which is much too heavy for summertime. Not to mention Dooney is pricey, we all need a a “status bag” but save your splurges on classic designs that never go out of style, not on trends! But you already know this rule.  The one I offer is 20% off right now too, but I digress – back to flip flops…) 

So you have made room in your closet for that purse because you eliminated the need for 30 pairs of flip flops, NOW imagine how much room you also added to your suitcase when you only have to pack one pair of shoes for your entire vacation!  But with all those strap options, no one will ever know you only brought one pair of flops - but they will be seething with jealousy because you have the perfect flop for every outfit…now, where did you hide the bag with all your shoes in it?!
